چکیده
Abstract Bacterial solutions have been studied to promote self-healing of cementitious matrices, however, the concentration this varied between studies. Consequently, objective study was evaluate potential different concentrations Bacillus subtilis AP91 encapsulated in expanded perlite (EP). Visual examination and capillary absorption water measured over time. Test samples were also subjected strength resistance tests. The physiochemical properties EP his distribution on matrix evaluated. There no observable trend effect solution width crack healed. However, affected quantity length fissures Capillary decreased as healed while significant changes regardless concentration. Results indicated that provided suitable encapsulation bacterial there is an adequate capsules matrix.

Designing Repeatable Self-Healing into Cementitious Materials
Designing self-healing into cementitious materials can open a new world of opportunities for resilient concrete infrastructure under service loading conditions. The self-healing process should be robust as well as repeatable, allowing for self-repair after multiple damage events. The repeatability poses great challenges when self-healing strategies mainly rely on the formation of low-strength c...
متن کاملSelf-Healing in Cementitious Materials—A Review
Concrete is very sensitive to crack formation. As wide cracks endanger the durability, repair may be required. However, these repair works raise the life-cycle cost of concrete as they are labor intensive and because the structure becomes in disuse during repair. In 1994, C. Dry was the first who proposed the intentional introduction of self-healing properties in concrete. In the following year...
متن کاملThe Feasibility of Waterproof Microcapsule System for Bacteria-Based Self-Healing Cementitious Material
In this study, a waterproof material was used to fabricate microcapsule by interfacial curing reaction to encapsulate an alkaliphilic spore-forming bacterium. The technical feasibility of encapsulated spores and the influence of three kinds of curing agent on the calcium precipitation activity (CPA) of the bacterium were studied. Furthermore, micromorphology of microcapsules was observed by Sca...

The current paper presents a bacteria-based self-healing cementitious composite for application in low-temperature marine environments. The composite was tested for its crack-healing capacity through crack water permeability measurements, and strength development through compression testing. The composite displayed an excellent crack-healing capacity, reducing the permeability of cracks 0.4 mm ...
